Presence - Back to school 2023

Sept-2023

Presence

We dance to develop body awareness - to better feel the life that animates it and to feel alive and well.
In dance, our emotions are welcome. All emotions. We set them in motion to release the tension generated by holding them in. No need to explain or justify. Expression comes through movement.

Presence and awareness

As we develop awareness of the body moving in space, there comes a point when the body moves before awareness has time to shape (deform?) it.

A moment of grace where time and social imperatives no longer exist. I follow the dance. Without trying to make it look like anything. No construction, no aesthetics.

Nothing to do.

Nothing to do with looks.

Nothing to do, just be the movement.

A feeling of fullness and well-being.

Absolute freedom.

From dance to everyday life

How can we bring this state of being into everyday life with fluidity?

We dance to remember the possibility of this state, to explore it.

So that this moment does not remain a parenthesis or an escape?

Bringing him into your life doesn't mean "doing nothing".

It's Being in everything I do.

Fluidity: we don't want to just throw everything out the window!

Rather, introduce this state of presence into your life according to your possibilities.

By accepting that it takes time

By taking advantage of each more or less comfortable stage of this journey

This Tuesday, September 5, I invite you to explore what presence means to you through body expression and dance movement.

2 possibilities

  • Tuesday 9-10 a.m. on Zoom
  • Tuesday 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm in Aix-en-Provence

See you soon in the dance,

Mixes to listen to or dance to at home

Mixcloud is a platform that, among other things, allows DJs to post their music while taking care to pay the musicians. I post mixes, which means that the tracks follow each other without blanks. They were recorded live during the course, so you can use them to dance to at home. Apparently, they're also fun to listen to in the car or while cooking. In general, the rhythm starts calmly, builds up in speed and intensity and then comes down again.

Mixcloud has a free, ad-free version. You may still be asked to provide an email address.

Where and when to practice

Want to give it a try? You are welcome in your physical condition of the moment, with or without experience dance experience.
