Dancing for freedom

Oct 2020

From the freedom to dance to dancing your freedom

Dare to dance your freedom. conscious dance lets you experience the freedom of moving to music for your own pleasure. It can give you a sense of fulfillment and a feeling of being alive and well. Do you need this in your life?

Dancing and singing freely like a child

On this Sunday at the end of September, the sun was shining on Provence and I wanted to enjoy and share it. I gave myself permission to dance freely in my garden, with the street and neighbors all around.

  • Without stretching the toes
  • Without trying to look good
  • In comfortable clothes
  • Filmed without make-up
  • Just for the pleasure of moving and enjoying the mild autumn sunshine

I danced, and even sang, with the innocence of a child.

I still had the conscience of an adult who knows she can be heard, seen and judged. So I sent her away... just for a moment... in the shade 😉

And it was good to feel my body moving simply to better enjoy the sun and wind. I felt free and alive.

When I prevent myself from feeling free

At a time when our freedom of movement and social interaction is restricted, generating frustration.

At some point, we were forced to realize that we had little control over our lives, forcing us to move forward in uncertainty.

I have a few questions.

Honestly, what's stopping me from being truly free today? Am I really sure that I was freer - before? Can I say that I'm making full use of the freedom I have? Does the pressure that limits me really come from outside? Or is there an inner pressure too? A voice that would say "No" or "That's not right..." or "I can't do that (to them)...".

Convincing myself that I'm compelling myself for others, I'm so good at that. Especially my children. The ultimate excuse for not BEING fully free. As pre-adolescents, they make me understand that they're fine too when I distance myself a little. As a result, it's harder to maintain. Yet I make the same choices, always for them, or so I think. In fact, I do it for myself. It's my pleasure to put them first and stay with them, even if they don't need it anymore. So I don't deprive myself: I choose them - for me. And recognizing this means recognizing that I'm not stuck, but free to do things differently.

Excuses" like "my children", I have many; some conscious, others less so. But what about you?

So what are we waiting for to dance our freedom away?

Yesterday, today, tomorrow. Can you really say you've made full use of the freedom you had?

  • The freedom to live the life of your dreams. To change what you don't like or what no longer suits you.
  • The freedom to love whoever you want, however you want, starting with yourself.
  • The freedom to BE yourself, to express who you are and what you feel, without fear of being singled out or rejected.

Conquer your freedom and learn to enjoy it to the full. Expressing your freedom to be yourself, materializing your authentic being on a daily basis. It doesn't happen by itself. It's often uncomfortable work at the time. It's not a matter of dropping everything or changing everything overnight.

In my experience, it starts with taking time out to enjoy yourself and for yourself on a regular basis. Small homeopathic doses: 3 minutes a day or 1 hour a week to be free. Don't you have that?

But it's already so rewarding. Ct does so much good that we need more and find the time for it.

And when I dare to embody my freedom. I give it to the world, and it's also a way of building tomorrow's free world for us and our (free and smiling) children.

conscious dance can be a great training tool

There are so many ways to get there. It's up to each of us to find our own. The one that moves you, motivates you, gives you pleasure and makes you want to go further. I know all about meditation, yoga, writing, singing, music, nature, reading... My practice is Movement Medicine.

Movement Medicine workshops can be a time and a place to experience the freedom of being yourself. A regular time to experience this unique and profound pleasure. It's not about knowing how to dance, but simply about enjoying the pleasure of movement. There's no such thing as "just right", just "the way I feel" and "the way I am".

And perhaps, like me, this exploration will enable you to find your own personal path to greater freedom of BEING in your daily life.
